Powder Coating

Once the metal has been blasted cleaned it can then be powder coated. Powder coating will provide a durable yet attractive finish to any metal. There is a wide range of RAL and BS colours and a choice of gloss levels.

Our oven size is 2.5m wide x 2.5m high x 4 long, the largest powder coating oven in Pembrokeshire.

The list of what can be powder coated is endless;- light and heavy industrial, automotive parts, garden furniture, office furniture, sheet metal products, aluminium sheet, gates, railings, staircases, engine parts, windows, doors, radiators, curtain rails. If its metal it can be powder coated.

Bearings and bushes must be removed. We can carry this out for a small additional charge.

No job too small and we have a quick turnaround.

After the item has been cleaned it is taken to the powder coating booth.

What is powder coating?

The powder is applied with and electrostatic spray gun. Before the powder is sent to the gun it is fluidised to separate the individual grains of powder and so that it flows out of the gun more easily.
Because the powder particles are electrostatically charged, the powder wraps around the part. The powder will remain attached to the item as long as some of the electrostatic charge remains on the powder.

The powder coated item is then placed in the oven and heated to temperatures that range from 160 to 210 degrees depending on the powder.

As its being heated the powder goes through 4 stages melt, flow, gel and finally cure.
The item is removed from the oven and left to cool.
